Still two rooms linked by a door opening at the far end. Both are fairly basic, one side has the TV and limited seating, just bar stools and a shelf opposite while the other side has a few tables and some very worn banquettes. Framed pictures of the Beatles with copies of their birth certificates were an unusual touch, there are also local scenes plus plenty of Walkers of Warrington brewery memorabilia.
Handpumps on both sides but they are not repeated, helpfully boards list the beers and state the type. This occasion saw Weetwood Best, Dunham Massey Dark Mild, Millstone True Grit, Abbeydale Mem in Black, Tribute, Red Willow Heartless, Ossett Inception and Kelham Island Easy Rider (£2.75). There was also a box of cider, Devon Jasper. I didn't see any indications of food during my tea time visit.
A very good range of ales and seemingly a popular town pub even if it is rather tatty inside. The exterior tiling has been well preserved.

I quite liked this pub despite it being a bit of a dive. It does however have a good selection of cask ales on with a choice of handpumps in both of the rooms.

Basic but nice , comfortable local, supporting real ale. The worn furniture adds nicely to the appeal of this drinkers pub.

I only had time for a quick half here before making a dash for my train, so my notes were thin to the point of non-existent. I saw at least five hand pumps and the beer I had was from Cross Bay. I would definitely return here, and the proximity of such pubs as this, Porters, Borough and Tavern suggest that Warrington would be a good town for a little pub crawl.

2 bars no lounge.
Great real ale. Getting a brewery soon.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Lower Angel
Old-fashioned twin bar town local, thankfully surviving through the various redevelopments. Very quiet on a Monday night, and they were on the point of shutting early with many of the stools upturned on the benches. Still, the barman was happy enough to serve another customer whereas many places would just have said "we're closed." Decent selection of real ales in each bar, including a fine Theakstons Dark Mild.
