Back Street boozer that had not one, but two different street food vendors outside. Nice beer garden with heated huts. Inside, a two roomer served by a central bar. HPA the only cask on. Cobs available.

I approached the New Inn from the rear where the smell of burgers from a tent in the garden caught my attention during a recent Friday evening visit. On the rear of the pub is lots of covered seating before a large beer garden and a few pods beyond. I entered through the rear exit into an L-shaped bar with a couple of televisions, one of which was supplying background noise via a music channel. On the rear wall is a fireplace, above which a dartboard hangs. One of the two hand pumps was in operation drawing Wye Valley’s HPA and there was a premium keg range alongside Neck Oil. Some small cobs on the counter were priced at £3, which I thought a bit steep, in fact the price put me off enquiring about the burgers out back. In the front of the pub is a lounge bar with another television that was off, although Sky Sports was advertised for when the football starts. Live music is advertised for the first Saturday of each month. This is a decent local, but not sure I would go out of my way to revisit.

My first visit to this pub for quite a while and was much improved since my last visit. This Back street two roomed local has a sports orientated bar and a clean and comfortable L shaped lounge with alcoves. Five real ales on tap including Timothy Taylor Landlord which was in fine fettle during my visit. Quiz night on a Sunday. Will visit again.
