Will Larter left this review about The Hornsmill

Large roadhouse in a prominent position at some traffic lights on the A56. It's been done up by Hydes with some panache, and features five of their own beers, centrally placed on the long bar counter. Two were in the modern style, with pump clips channeling Haynes manuals, that used to be a must-buy for people who liked to do their own car servicing and repairs. I had a half of The Princess 4.2% (NBSS 3.5) and another of Hydes Original, their understated bitter (NBSS 2.5), which has never been a favourite of mine, and this sample didn't do anything to change my mind. Interesting pub, but the beer, although in good condition, doesn't quite have the style to match.

Very nice large pub. Formerly The Helsby. Large open plan interior with one side more devoted to diners. Outside area. 5 cask ales on.

Reopened 5th December as "The Hornsmill" under the ownership of Hydes brewery. On A5117 one mile off junction 14 of the M56, it makes a good alternative to Chester Services at the same junction. Hydes Bitter + two Hydes guests are on Sale.
