UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT - the pub is much cleaner and you can tell as soon as you walk in. even the outside is well kept with the grass cut. as you walk in its still open plan, 1 pool table to the side of the bar, and 2 tvs - 1 showing horse racing, the other with magic radio station on. been assured by the new managers that the sound system will be up and running shortly.
carlsberg at £2.45 carling at £3.05, had banks's mild on tap - hand pull says pedigree coming soon, when asked for the manager said he is getting the ales back in.
pleasant pub with good friendly staff, mix of custom from young lads around the pool table, people watching the racing, and older guys sat in the corner. karaoke advertised for saturdays, stayed for 2 pints and it was peaceful, interesting to see the manager doing all the work serving food and behind the bar.
this looks and feels a lot better than past visits

A detached white painted brick Marston's pub and eatery, with front and back patio areas.
The interior is an open plan, typical gastropub foody table place around a central serving bar, with a raised area, but at least it does have a pool table and dart board. The decor is red and yellow, with white ceiling and some wood panel. There are no real pictures, just poseters of their budget meals - and i didn't eat, so i can't comment on them. There is a TV, or two, showing general TV - some soap, silently, thank God. The backgroud music was charty stuff at a decent level. Several tables were laid out for poker but i left before the players arrived. The service was functional, the clientele very mixed, from young lads to mature blokes.
Beer; tap stuff with Banks's MILD, Bitter and Ringwood 49er on handpull, the bitter was fine.
Generic place really, but it does have three real ales and pub games, making it better than some i am sure.
