This is a detached pub. This pub replaced the original (allegedly established in 1820) in 1965, after the original pub burned down. The pub is in plain brick, with a brown scallop effect. It carries both an acknowledgement to the original pub and the original Hanson's signage still. The interior, well, I just saw the one room - the bar - the other had the lights out. The bar is in white and blue, with a tile floor. There are a couple of brick fireplaces. There is a dart board. The TV had general programmes on and there was no music. A couple of mirrors are on the walls and a there are a few trophies dotted about. The service was very friendly, as were the locals that were in - had a good chat. Beer; usual tap stuff, with three handpulls - Joules Pale Ale (clip turned), Jennings Cumberland Ale and Joules Blonde - both were well kept. I really enjoyed my stop-off here, friendly and a couple of real ales too. Worth a visit.

Nice friendly pub with a good daytime & late evening crowd, Live entertainment Tues & Sats, Occaisional Karaoke Fri`s, This pub has recently changed hands, & I have only met the new Gaffer once, so can`t comment to much though he did seem pleasant enough, no cask ales though unfortunatly, though a pint of Banks`s bitter off the keg was welcome.
