Fairly typical foody pub on the main road.
Brewpoint Anchorman on handpull.
Nicely appointed inside but what stood out to me was the service. A very chatty barman made sure he pulled a pint through as it was the first of the day. He then offered me a choice of straight or handled glass. He enquired if it was my first pint of the day which in fact it was .
His response was "please allow me to get this one for you" and wouldn't accept payment for it!
In almost 40 years of pub crawling this was a first for me! And it was a decent pint!

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The White Horse

Traditional-looking food-led pub set back from the busy main road so the outdoor seating on the front patio terrace isn't badly affected by traffic. However, the much-extended interior has been comprehensively refurbished in a light semi-modern style. Various seating / dining areas around the 'L'-shaped bar, with more of a restaurant further back. Two of three handpumps in use, offering Charles Wells Eagle IPA and (thankfully, in the circumstances) Wainwright (£3.95).

The A452 here follows the line of the ancient Welsh Road, later part of the north-south trunk route avoiding Birmingham. Now of course bypassed by the motorways. Balsall Common is a dull stretch of inter-war suburbia, all a bit random really, and that includes the White Horse. It's a 30s roadhouse, currently operated by Charles Wells, which has been knocked around something rotten over the years, and is currently in the somewhat tedious contemporary style: bare boards; pastel paintwork; ambi-pur odour; cook-chill menu; brexit clientele. At least, being Charles Wells, they keep some of it reasonably pubby but if it's a nice day you're better off sitting on the terrace watching the traffic.

Eagle and Bombadier on the pumps but we stuck to Wifebeater like everyone else.

The White Horse is a large roadside pub that is situated at the southern end of Balasll Common.
Once inside there is a large single L shaped room with the bar facing, the seating is bench type and tall tables and chairs, the room is bare boarded, there is a separate dining room to the rear.
The pub is a Charles Well tied house,i had a drink of Eagle bitter which was a decent drink,i failed to note other beers on the bar.
Quiet background music was playing and food is available.
Not really my sort of pub but it had a decent drink and drinkers are made welcome.
