It's always amusing to walk into a sparsely-attended pub to silence from the locals, especially when a printed sheet of A4 on the entrance indicates that those barred from the premises shall remain so. This rectangular-shaped pub is located on the A5061 road out of central Warrington and is suitably run-down, with a real ale-free bar counter (John Smith's Smooth and Mild were keg alternatives and a pint of Guinness came in at a bargain £2.50). The bar faces you on entry with a pool / darts room off to the right and an area to the left of the bar where a DJ booth takes pride of place. The few locals up at the bar seemed to be already on their way at 7pm on a Monday evening and it was one of those rare occasions where I wished for some background muzak of any sorts.
