Graham Coombs left this review about The Cocked Hat
A Greene King eatery and hotel, sandwiched between the retail park and the bypass. A bit different to the average new-build though, as it is a conversion of a Grade 2 listed farmhouse dating back to the 17th century. It is indeed a nice looking building, with a newer block to the rear housing the hotel leaving a tree-filled patio area between which would be lovely apart from the constant traffic on the flyover behind. Inside sadly it doesn't live up to the exterior, with a fairly typical corporate interior although again more traditional than the average new-build. The dining side is to the left, with more of a pub feel to the right including a large screen and dartboard. It is getting a bit tatty round the edges though and is probably due for a refurb. The bar has a bank of handpumps with two badged for GK IPA (which wasn't on) and one for Deuchars IPA which was, but regrettably in barely drinkable condition despite the best efforts of the barman and assurances that it was a "new barrel yesterday". The place has some potential but needs a bit of tlc.
