Old Boots left this review about Jekyll & Hyde

A long thin place with a mix of comfy seating and impractical high stools in the front area and an open to the skies part at the back, upstairs is called a "gin parlour" but I was there late and it was shut. It is popular with young ladies so I was about 35 years too late. Apart from the beer which is ok, although the pint I had was closer to 500ml, and the aforementioned gin it sells cocktails in jam jars and other exotic glassware and according to a notice in the gents they serve beer in schooners (2/3 pint) The punters were a usual city centre bar crowd of suits, slappers, young lads and lasses, the terminally middle aged and even some Brummy hipsters.

Soup Dragon left this review about Jekyll & Hyde

A burgundy painted exterior, with beer patio at the back. This terraced pub was formerly the Queens Head

The interior is a long, open plan room running past the bar, which is by the entrance. The decor is a white 'fake' brick effect, with a bit of french mustard painted wood panel and some chocolate brown leather seating. The pictures were arty stuff, the candles and the clipboards on the tables, with the cocktail menus on them were a bit pretentious. The music was decent 60s stuff, but still very loud. The service was fine, though it took a while due to the clientele ordering cocktails. The clientele were a mix of students, with Oxbridge type scarves, to miserable people like me.

Beer; tap stuff - no MILD! with a decent Wye Valley HPA and Hook Norton Hooky Bitter.

Although not really my scene, and yes, a bit loud, the beer was very good. I would return, but during the day - 20 years younger and i would go on the night too!

Near Steelhouse Lane Police Station, the Courts & Birmingham Childrens Hospital. Convenient if visiting any of them. Music is excruciatingly loud, so loud the windows vibrate as if a diaphram. Can't comment on the beer as my head, including tastebuds, was being pulverised by the sonic boom. Good place to visit if you are, or you want to be, deaf.

A nice pub situated just far enough out of the city centre so to be away for the main hussle.
Staff v.friendly nice to talk to.
Drinks prices are good and selection is very good.
