Soup Dragon left this review about The Mount
A 1960s looking pub, built on the site of an old gravel pit and taking its name from the local mound (mount) where Charley I was supposed to have once stood to review his troops in 1642 (hence Kingstanding as an area). The building is one of undressed brick, low-level, with wings to a central area. There is a slight Italian look, with the attempt to make the windows Roman and the bellcote on the roof. There is a patio area. One wing is the lounge, which was in complete darkness. The other wing is the bar. This is a square room, in coffee and white, with tiled floor. It has darts, pool and table footy, along with a large screen TV - showing footy. The music was charty and loud. There are tidy enough red bench seats. The service was ok and the clientele mainly lads, with an older guy in the corner who had fallen asleep, despite the charty din. The sign outside said 'cask ales', but of course, there were none and no evidence of handpulls. I had half of shandy and left, as there wasn't even a MILD. One for the locals.
