This is a detached pub, with rear patio area and a few benches out the front. It is a 60s build, typical of the period, which sprung-up after the 50s estate was built over the historic heart of Buckland's End. It is a 'house' of brick and gret cladding, with a low-level extension. The signage and etching on the windows are new. The interior has a couple of rooms, although one had 'members only' signs up, so i didn't see it. The other is a bar room, with a pool table. It is in white and grey wood panel and has a tiled floor, along with modern lampshades. A few arty pictures are on the walls. The TV wasn't on and the music was via the jukebox, mixed and at a decent enough level to nearly drown out the pub singer next to me. The service was fine and it is clearly a good locals pub, with a good atmosphere and where everyone knows everyone - whatever their age. Beer; no real ale, just the usual keg drinks including M&B MILD - I had a shandy. Happy to have visited for a swifty.
