This is a corner pub. It was opened in 1961, replacing a car sales area, which had previously been a builder's yard. It is typical of the period, having a larger 'house', which is now all in white and brick, with a low-level extension. It has dated better than many places of the same date. The interior has a couple of rooms, with the lounge being in the extension. I went into the bar, which is in yellow and white, with a red lino floor and white ceiling. There is a fireplace at one end. The walls have old photos of Brum on, along with one of the pub when M&B opened it. The seating is a mix of green and tan leather covered perimeter, with general tables and chairs. The TV had a soap on and there was no music, although there is a jukebox. The service was fine and the clientele mature, but few. Beer; no real ale, despite two vacant pulls. Usual tap stuff, but no MILD - I had a shandy. This is now the last pub in the PG Small Heath area - all the others have gone. Shocking. Nothing for the real ale fan.
