This is a detached U-shaped pub. It was built around the 1920s, as an hotel, and replaced the Dogpool Inn that stood diagonally opposite. It was formally the Hibernian. It is an interesting building, which looks to be in 17th century style; the lower frontage in rusticated stone and the upper being in brick. The roof is quite unique and the jettied windows at the curve of the pub, with the crest above, are worth a look. The interior has a long room, with pool and darts at one end and opens up at the other as it follows the curve of the building. The decor is white and wood panel, with some red - but thefrench mustard mouldings on the ceiling are also worth a look. There appears to be a small stage area, the TV had sport on and there was no music. There were some landscape pictures on the walls. The service was friendly - it appears they were new gaffers - as the photocopied, handwritten menus attested. They were also hoping to introduce real ale, however the current taps were basic and I just had Caffrey's. Obviously a work in progress - good luck.

Only item I can recommend to the new dogpool hotel and restaurant is not to go there...even under new management the situations just gets worse...
BRITISH OAK and SELLY PARK TAVERN are much better. No fighting, awful dodgy chav discos, unedible food, poor refurb and lots of underage drinkers running around like its playtime.....
Sorry but after the third lot of management you would think they could have got the message..this time the brewery sold the lease off cheaply to management who have not run a pub before.....AND IT SHOWS.....
