This is a detached Toby Carvery, with adjoining Travelodge, with a patio area. The building is 18th century at heart and has its original outbuildings - sadly, the main building has been significantly altered and extended. The main entrance still retains its character; a winged-corridor house, being of brick, two storeys, with a hipped roof that has dormer windows. The interior has been pretty much destroyed, being an irregular open-plan nesting of areas. There is a serving bar near the main door, that has a lounge area attached; which has bench seats, a fireplace and a big pull down screen showing Sky Sports News). The rest of the place is in the mixed colour scheme; red, cream, mustard, green, brown etc. There are several fireplaces dotted about and the walls have a mix of old local photos and scenes from TV sitcoms - far better than arty art! The place was busy with diners, but a quiz was hosted in the lounge area. The service was fine. The kiddy grabbing machine is also present. The Xmas meal was fine. Beer; usual tap stuff with GK IPA and a decent enough Pedigree on handpull. Happy enough to eat here, but no a place I would really want to go for just for a drink.
