A detached cream and red painted corner pub. An extended cottage style pub with a rear patio are.
The interior has a couple of rooms. The lounge was in darkness, so only the bar was open, This is a long room that bends around the serving bar and has a dart board at the end. The decor is a cream and brown wall, with a cream, or white ceiling - it was a bit dark! There is a blue carpet, all looking a bit tired. There is a brick fireplace with a mirror above and i did see a Lowry print, other than a newspaper cutting on a Bilston fire i didnt see much in the way of interest. This place is a spit and sawdust kind of pub. The clientele were locals and salt of the earth, but the service was great, especially when i realised that the owner used to run a pub by me. There was a TV with some general programme on and the music was general and at a decent level.
Beer; no real ale, just usual taps with an ok Banks's MILD smooth
Many would think this a basic pub and the language a bit choice. I loved it - i felt comfy and it was nice to catch-up with a former local gaffer to me. If you dont like a proper back street boozer you will hate it- i had a great time!
