The Two Boats Inn enjoys a nice canalside location with the Cuttle Inn just opposite on the other side of the canal. It's quite a grand building with three storeys overlooking the canal and four storeys overlooking the sunken car park to the rear.

The interior is much more manageable with a lounge/dining room to the left as you enter and a bar to the right. The lounge is comfortably furnished with a piano, a large screen TV above it, a few black and white pictures of canal life on the walls and a moose head. The bar has a dartboard, a pool table, quite a few football and rugby shirts (most signed), along with a jukebox and a games machines. All of the Six Nations flags can be seen on the ceiling, with the exception of Italy, for some reason. Perhaps they have simply never been added since the Five Nations became Six?

Toilets are accessed from the bar and to continue the sporting theme, there is a large picture of Lewis Hamilton on the door of the gents for some reason. Inside the gents, there is a picture of an Arsenal team, perhaps denoting the owners' persuasion.

Canalside tables outdoors are popular on sunny days. The area along the towpath is partly decked. There are additional tables on a grassy area at the car park level.

Two cask ales were available from the 4 handpulls - Ghost Ship & Tribute. A third handpull had a turned Bass clip, whilst the fourth was unclipped. Brewpoint Foghorn was available on keg. Ciders were Stowford Press & Stowford Press Dark Berry. Food smelt good, certainly homecooked, and I also spotted a specials board. In addition, there was a rather tempting cake on the bar.

Kids are allowed in, a quiz night is held and wifi is also provided. There's not too much to shout about for the beer drinker but I quite enjoyed my short visit here.

A very welcoming canal-side pub, flexible and friendly.  The barmaid was particularly helpful, while the chef went out of his way to look after us.  Food was basic but plentiful and well prepared.  Ales were in good condition – Charles Wells’s DNA, Ghost Ship. Landlord, Homepoint Brew Pint and Tribute, all tried and approved.  I’d be very happy to come back here any time.

Despite being right on the Grand Union, the Charles Wells signage has always put me off visiting the Two Boats.
This changed after a warm and gruelling day lock working when the pub was right at journey's end and a head around the door revealed some drinkable beer, friendly governor and attractive barmaids.
The crew ensconced themselves to the left in the lounge area, which was very comfortable and where one or two were eating what looked like decent pub grub meals, and set about re-hydrating.
Beers on were Bombardier, Black Sheep, Sharps Atlantic and North Cotswold Shagweaver with both the Atlantic and Shagweaver being deeply and thoroughly sampled with great satisfaction.
Better than expected and worth a look to see what's on as a guest.

Excellent canalside pub as described by BF below, but with the helpful addition of an outside door to loos. Marston's acquisition of CW's brewing side seems well under way, with Bank's umbrellas outside. That said the guest beer inside was Robinsons Pint of Thrones, which was technically fine if not to my taste. It's open all day and on a Monday too. which is becoming a rarity around here. Of the two pubs here this one has the edge and is a lovely spot for an hour in the summer sunshine. Points however reduced for poor beer selection.

A canalside building ,probably built at the same time as the canal with all front windows giving a great view of the boating traffic, there are also many benches placed alongside the towpath and moorings for boats. There are two rooms with a public bar to the right which has a small counter, pine furnishings,a darts board with a good throw,a Sky Sports flatscreen, fruit machines and a few tables and stools. To the left is more of a lounge with several dining tables,a stone fireplace, carpeted at the rear with a lot of canal ephemera around the walls. The wooden clad bar here is also quite small but this room is just as popular with the local drinkers as the public bar and if you want to use the loo you have to go via the public bar so there is a lot of human traffic inside the pub.The atmosphere was charming and the low ceilings show the buildings age.Dogs and children welcome while muzak is played at a sensible volume.
There is a quiz night and food every session from a pub grub style menu with daily specials and steaks.A bottle of pickled eggs on the bar enhances the authentic boozer feel.
The Charles Wells branding has always put me off in the past as I cant stand their hop light beer,Bombardier and Young Bitter on my visit. However there are guest ales ,on my trip I was never going to order the Brain's Reverend James but St Austell Proper Job was sufficient to stop me walking out and it was in fine nick (£3.60)
As long as there is a decent guest ale this pub is worth a visit,it's lively ,authentic and popular with locals and boaters alike.

Two Boats
This is sat nicely on the Grand union Canal just by bridge 25. If you’re planning to moor here for the night settle after bridge 26. Charles Welles pub.
We were met by a very friendly and chatty barmaid. Happy to let us sample the unknown ales of Eagle IPA and Adnams Broadside, they also had Abbot Ale and Bombardier.
As we were the first customers of the evening, there was some back ground music on, but not intrusive. Gradually a mixture of regulars and passersby looking for food came in. It is clean and moderately decorated, good old fashioned bar chairs and stools.
The menu was good pub grub , reasonable priced, freshly cooked, specials included rib-eye steak for £13.50, which was well cooked and a large steak, I enjoyed the two boat chicken special £10, wrapped in bacon & topped with cheese, large portions, needed after a hard day climbing the locks.
A nice little pub, just right for boaters and locals.
