Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Raven

Although remaining open to all, this place was full of people who must have come from a funeral at the nearby church, so it felt more like a wake than anything else on my visit. The very distinctive painted raven on the table end of the building acts a very effective pub sign as it can be seen from some distance. Inside, the L-shaped traditional bar is fairly small, but there's a large, partly covered seating area out in the former car park. I later found an unlocked door to the lounge on the left-hand side, but that's now more of a pool room. Landlord and Old Speckled Hen (£4.40) being served from two of the four handpumps.

A good honest village boozer, close to the church, and tied to Marstons. It's stone built with interesting leaded windows and it retains a two room layout with a small lounge to the left with a serving counter and a larger tap room to the right,L shaped with a wood burner. The furniture is quite basic and a little worn including some sofas, but the interior was having a lick of paint, the low ceiling gives it character and the welcome was friendly. It's wet led ,so dont expect food and there are 6 handpumps on the bar with just 3 working on my Saturday lunchtime trip serving Banks's Amber,MILD (decent nick) and Marstons Saddle Tank (well kept). The music channel TV was a bit of a distraction, but overall a good pub for a pint or two.I managed it from Stretton Wharf on the Oxford Canal in a sharp quarter of an hour.

The Raven- Marstons
A friendly, unspoilt pub, old fashioned interiors, where cooked meals are available at a very reasonable price but we didn’t have time to sample. It was great to finally find a Marston’s pub, Real ale wise they had Pedigree and Bitter, alongside 2 Bank’s and Ringwood’s Filly Drift, something we had never tried before.
For those from the canal, it is a good 25 minute walk along a very busy road into Brinklow, from bridge 30, and you certainly work up a thirst before you get there! 22/09/09
