Close to the Oxford Canal ,if arriving by boat pass by The Barley Mow and head straight for The Boat.As Mr Phat notes new life has been injected into the pub and I welcome the focus on real ale.Interior is clean and functional and although the musak is played at quite a volume, there is still a convivial atmosphere and a warm welcome.Pool table to the left of the front door, bar in the centre and long thin lounge to the right with access to a sizeable garden.Well worth a visit.

The Boat has recently re-opened after an extensive refurbishment both inside and out. It's a traditional, solid canalside building which has benefitted from a fresh coat of paint and new signage making it very welcoming. The interior is split into two areas, to the left the games room with wooden floors, bar stools and tables, a pool table and various machines. To the right is a comfortable lounge area with upholstered wood furniture.
There are four handpumps, one unused, although this may change at the weekends, one for Westons Cider and the other two with ale on, London Pride and Purity's Mad Goose. We went for the Mad Goose which was excellent and probably the best pint of this I've had.
It's good to see a decent boozer re-open and I wish The Boat every success and will return when passing either by road or canal.

The Boat
This was disappointingly closed on our visit, opening hours from 2pm-11pm. This seemed a bit odd as its right next to the canal, and most boaters like a lunchtime drink and some food!
