A two-roomed street corner pub which is situated at a busy road junction just outside the town centre. There are a couple of hand pumps on the bar, but they are used as anchor points for the securing of charity collection tins, which is not the function they were designed for. I had a half of the execrable John Smiths Super Chilled, and retired to a table to ponder how something this bland and tasteless came to be the biggest selling beer in the country.
I was in the public bar, which is to the right of the entrance - I didn't venture into the lounge on the left. There's a pool table centrally placed. The walls are adorned with witty placards - "don't take life too seriously, nobody gets out alive anyway" is probably the pick and gives the flavour. By this time the beer had warmed up to the point where I could drink it without cracking the enamel on my teeth, so I supped up and left.
