Komakino . left this review about Market Tavern
Just off the main road through Southam and behind The Olde Mint is The Market Tavern; owned by Warwickshire Brewery and formerly known as The Crown. This retains its original two-roomed aspect and upon entering from the street, you are presented with a 'left or right' choice. Upon taking what appeared to be the wrong choice to the right (an empty room full of tables and chairs with a small bar containing no ale) the barman suggested I come through to the other side. The experience didn't improve, with just one of the five handpumps clipped (although two were turned the other way, I wasn't able to make out what they could have been). The solitary ale available was Warwickshire Best Bitter, as you would expect, which chimed in at £1.50 for a half. A smallish bar area, with a pool room off to the left had a bright, but tired décor, and despite the amiability of the barman and young clientele, I was left feeling they were missing a trick, especially due to the impressive Monday evening attendances of Southam's three other establishments.
