A delightful looking detached mock-Tudor styled pub nestled between the canal and railway bridges, hence the name i guess. The pub has a beer garden and patio area and is in a beige colour with chocolate quoin stones and window and door surrounds. It has a front facing gable and low-level extension. The pub is in undressed brick at the rear.
The interior had a couple of rooms, but the one to the feft was closed meaning i had to go to the right on entry, which proved to be the bar. One long serving bar served both rooms. The bar is a straight room with the serving bar jutting out a little into it.The room is in cream walls, with a wood floor, a brown cornice and a coffee coloured ceiling. The are a couple of fireplaces, at either end of the room - the one at the front is small and tiled (though missing a few). At the rear of the room there is a pool table. There are a few TVs on the walls - showing some silent news channel and the walls have lots of motorbike pictures on them. The service was functional and there were a couple of blokes in during my daytime visit. There was no background music.
Beer; no real ale, all tap stuff, with no MILD. I had a coke.
Nothing for the real ale drinker. A pub that would suit those of the motorbike fraternity especially (if not bothered by real ale), as well as the locals that use it.
