A significant building, if a little unexciting from the outside, not helped by the GK branding. Inside I was pleasantly surprised to find a smart, traditionally-furnished bar with lots of wood and dark green and blue paintwork. The rather splendid counter had a dozen or so handpumps with brews from far and wide. My only concern was whether they turned enough over to keep them in shape but a randomly-chosen Fyne Jarl was indeed in very good condition. A nice, relaxing pub to enjoy a good selection of ales in.

A very good pub and not to be missed. This traditional pub has a L shaped lounge and bar serves 10 real ales. The atmosphere is relaxed and music was played low. There are good size screens for sport. The barman was friendly and helpful. The Wylam Turbinia and Hexhamshire Bitter were both spot on. Will defo call again.

Town centre pub with a good range of beers from allendale, black sheep, caledonian, daleside, fullers, sheperd neame & wylam breweries.
