Graham Coombs left this review about Joshua Tree
A pub converted into an Indian restaurant but thankfully retaining the front bar area and some handpumps, which is entirely creditable. The laid-up restaurant is in the impressive back room. The staff were very happy to just serve beer, with a brace of handpumps providing Kicking Donkey and Firefall from Sussex brewery Lakedown, and a collection of clips suggesting these change regularly. Keg offerings were more usual Eurofizz. Nice enough for a pint, and excellent if you want a curry (South Indian menu), but beware it only opens in the evenings.

At the top of one of the hills on the Brighton Road. Light wood interior. Bar area inside the door a bit narrow, but comfortable. The room extends round to the right, where there are more tables for diners. 4 ales were available, Hogback TEA, Old Trip, Harveys IPA and own ale Joshua Tree, which I tried, very nice pint. Bar only use and dining use times vary so best check before hand. There is a golf course nearby, so you could use to as the 19th hole.
