Having seen the minimalist modern pub sign outside I half expected some stripped out gastro type place. Happily not so, the low beamed ceiling, original looking wood floor are still evident. The pub is L-shaped and a series of interconnected rooms through arched doorways, stepping up and down as you move around. There are some unusual boxy tables which may have originally been butcher's blocks, I'm not sure. Small leaded windows to the front elevation, mainly light walls with the lower portions panelled. There is an elevated external decked area to the rear beyond what I took to be a dedicated restaurant/dining area. There is a purple painted wall and a few bits of modern art around this side. Low volume background music playing.
Friendly service despite disturbing the barmaid's lunch. Hall & Woodhouse beers, Badger Bitter and Tanglefoot on offer, £2.90 for the Badger.
