Named after the winner of the nearby Derby in 1894, this is a smallish one roomed pub with a basic feel. It is generally a narrow room with a square bay opposite the bar and a recess at the front where a dartboard is housed. Wood floor with occasional rugs, upholstered banquettes, standard chairs and stools, but oddly amongst these there is a single large white leather effect armchair. Painted anaglypta wallpaper, a few stick on brick slips and a stippled ceiling contribute to a dated feel, but the welcome was friendly, and the beer well kept. Purity Mad Goose, St Austell Tribute and Ruddles County were the offerings. £2.95 for Mad Goose. There is a small garden to the rear plus a few benches outside the front door. Board games can be borrowed by asking at the bar. There are a couple of TVs, one over the main door on showing the World Cup football. Note the hours, pretty standard Tuesday to Saturday, but 6-11 Monday and closes at 9pm on Sundays.
