The outside has had a paint job in the intervening years though the inside doesn’t look too different and had the most weirdly off-putting smell on my visit. The left hand area had been made into a very cheap and nasty looking winter wonderland fro dining, everything in white including the chairs. Three ales, a splutter at the pump put paid to the Doom other options being a very lively Youngs Special and a flat Courage Best. Service via a clueless barmaid; the manageress was even more useless and wandered off despite the queues and chaos that she could clearly see unfolding, not to resurface again during my 20 minutes. The bar area had a real fire that remained unlit despite the cold. Footy on two screens with no-one watching. Impressive smoking area to the rear possibly the only positive. This is a rarity, a pub that has actually got worse over the years despite getting better being the easier option given its low start point.

Not too bad a place, usual unimaginative Surry choice of two Pride and Courage but a good pint of Best nonetheless. Pool tables take up too much room and get in the way. Found some of the customers a bit 'local' for my liking, felt like me and my mate were getting the stares. Maybe worth a stop, but if you're close enough to Egham and want a pint there are more compelling places a few minutes drive away like the Royal Marine in Lyne. Rated 5

Traditional village local, except that front half has been turned into a restaurant, with the locals pushed down the side. Not sure if totally like it, but worth a look.
