This is an upmarket Vintage Inns gastro-style pub, though currently with an afternoon break in the kitchen due to staff shortages. 2 ales on the bar: Tribute and a very passable Black Sheep Respire - a session IPA, which at £5.50, you'd very much expect it to be. The keg taps offer aspirational lagers in Asahi, Pravha and Madri, with the nowadays mainstream Neck Oil alongside.
A big garden absorbs the summer crowds.
There's nothing here you wouldn't expect, but it does its job well enough and drinkers and walkers are perfectly welcome, going by my fleeting visit for rehydration purposes.

Roadside inn on A25, now described as "Country pub and eating house" which pretty much sums it up. Still retains a cosy pubby area by the bar, but largely given over to eating. Décor in typical modern style, with rustic touches - not unpleasant. The garden is equally aimed at diners. The food quality was very good however, and no complaints about the ales (Cask Marque listed).
