Strongers . left this review about The Prince Regent

An old laminate floor runs through the Prince Regent where there’s a booth in the front left window and a serving counter runs up the right-hand wall to a table at the rear that sits adjacent to a door the leads to a restaurant area. High tables are found in the front of the pub up the right and some standard tables are found along the right rear. During a recent Thursday afternoon visit the televisions throughout were airing muted horse racing while some background music played. Standard and premium keg products were available from the bar, as was Pride from one of the two hand pumps. The service was polite, but I didn’t see anything to entice me back.

A couple of old Watney real ale signs adorn the attractive frontage, but the inside is a pretty ghastly throwback to the worst of the 1990s refurbs, with characterless (once-)modern seating, some hideous imitation stone wallpaper and a restaurant area pretending to be a cafeteria. Two handpumps both claimed to be dispensing London Pride, although it tasted suspiciously gassy to me. A selection of screens showing different sports and the food specials sounded cheapish, but not much other reason to visit.

Looks alright from the outside but the oblong interior has been stripped mercilessly and is now a thunkingly dull bar-by-numbers with laminate floor, poorly done three shade painted walls and a bar top made of sparkly floor tiles. Two pumps with one ale on, Pride, which was pretty drinkable – a surprise. The barman somehow decided that turning off the 6 Nations match between Scotland and Italy just as the Italians were mounting a comeback was a great idea. Pretty poor really but at least the ale was alright.

Had a look in but although there were 2 handpulls on the bar, neither had real ale on so didn't stay.
