Now simply called the Duke, this was a bonus pub for me on a crawl of Ipswich. I'm surprised it has not made the Good Beer Guide.

It was throwing it down when I arrived and I was invited to try to find a dry table. Luckily, I found one that was dry on the one side! There are plenty of tables, as the car park has been converted to a drinking area, but only around half are under cover.

Ales were Mighty Oak Captain Bob & Oscar Wilde, Wolf Edith Cavell & Lupus Lupus, Lacon's Encore, Green Jack Golden Best, Greene King IPA & Mauldon's Pale Ale & Ploughman's Gold. Calvor's Baltic Porter was the only dark beer on, albeit keg.

Staff were friendly and service was relatively quick. Worth a try.

Ales, craft beers and other drinks are listed on clipboards that are handed to you on arrival.
