Blue Scrumpy left this review about Moat House

The Moat House is an unusual find in Tamworth. Situated a little out to the west of the town centre, it is a splendid listed mansion with an interior every bit as impressive as imposing exterior. The two staff members seemed a little surprised when a a group of 14 of us walked in. It was suddenly all hands on deck.

There are 4 handpulls, which were dispensing Church End Goat's Milk, Titanic Plum Porter & Enville Ale. A fourth handpull was unclipped. Bag-in-the-box ciders were Lilley's Mango & Pina Colada.

Inside is a little more compact than it looks from the outside but there are 3 or 4 rooms, all with plenty of character. The bar staff were both quite hospitable, one of them giving us QR codes to scan to find out about the history of the building. The other barman was keen to tell us about Tamworth's other pubs. Wifi can be accessed by obtaining a code from a machine at the bar.

This place has very limited opening hours, only being open on a Friday evening and Saturday from 1pm. However, it's well worth adding it to any pub list if visiting the town when it is open.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Moat House

Heritage building, and possibly one of the oldest in the town? Anyway, mostly an events venue but open to the general public at the weekend. Turning right once through the front door, one finds a typical hotel-style bar. On the plus side, surprisingly, the four handpumps were pouring Tribute, Cwtch from Tiny Rebel, Titanic Plum Porter and an excellent Goat's Milk from Church End.

New owners,a tasteful refurbishment and new menu has done wonders for this historic building after years of neglect and under investment.
Real ales, decent selection of lagers not to mention teas, coffees and hot chocolates. Menu ranges from snacks to tasty well presented food including steaks, pies and burgers. (No food Sunday evenings)
Huge car park, play area and outdoors seating overlooking the river

one of oldest buildings in Tamworth. Proper Elizabethian house. Looks very grand outside but inside disappointing with rooms can be bit cramped. Real ale sometimes served. Large area outside for people smoke
