The Rams Head has a central serving counter that serves left and right-hand bars, the former being lights out during a recent early midweek evening visit. The open bar had three or four chatty locals propping up the bar counter while the governor held court creating a friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately the two hand pumps were unused and over half the keg was off, so I ended up with half a generic lager from the limited standard and premium selection available.
There’s a well-trodden tartan carpet throughout and under the front window is banquette seating that sits next to some DJ equipment. More banquettes are found in a rear seating area where there are also two copper topped tables. I think the seating once had a floral print but this is now worn away through years of use. The television was off, but there was some 1950s and early 60s background music playing, which met the demographic of the locals. Sky and BT Sports are advertised. Out the back is a small courtyard used to keep the smokers off the street.
These authentic old school boozers are a dying breed, but I feel this one needs a little TLC, and a better choice of beer. Maybe I visited at a bad time, but I don’t think so.

Nothing seems to have changed even now. A friendly traditional pub just over the bridge. I liked it.

This pub is away from the town centre.
The Rams Head is a corner pub that is probably the same now as it was when it was built, there are a few small rooms around the central bar which are quite basic looking.
There were three real ales on here i had a drink of Grays bitter this was ok but nothing special the other beers were Bombadier and GK Abbot.
It was nice to see a pub still like this.
