Pub is still open according to Burton on Trent CAMRA as of 11/08/2014.
Planning permission still being debated. If it is granted the pub will close and be demolished.

Plans have been unveiled to transform a former pub site in a Staffordshire village into a housing development.
The old Royal Oak in Hill Ridware, near Rugeley, will be demolished and replaced by 42 houses if the scheme is approved.

A long, narrow, detached cottage style pub in white render and with a beer garden.
The interior was again, one long narrow room that i saw, which also encompassed a small dining area. The decor was cream and white with fakey looking ceiling beams, settles and benches, as well as tables. There were a few pictures, maps and lots of trophies. There was a TV, with a film on, very quiet background music, with a dart board. The service was friendly and the clientele mixed locals it seemed.
Beer; tap stuff, with Black Sheep Bitter and a very good Bass on handpull.
All in all this place was fine - a nice pub that does a great pint of Bass (which is a standard drink to me).
