A detached brick cottage style Marston's pub with partial white rendering and a beer garden.
The interior is open plan, which despite having a couple of different areas, almost encircles the central bar. The decor is dark red and white with fakey looking ceiling and wall beams. There are a couple of prints on the walls, but they are generally bare, though there is some brassware and other ephemera in the lounge along with a fireplace. The little bar bit has a stone floor, while it is carpeted elsewhere. There was a dart board and the folks in the one area were playing dominoes, which was nice to see. There was a TV, which wasn't on and quiet background music. The service was fine, the clientele mixed and friendly enough.
Beer; tap stuff, with a good pint of Banks's MILD, as well as Banks's Bitter, Marston's Old Empire and Pedigree on handpull.
I thought this place was a good solid pub, if not better; especially after the disappointment of the Bull & Spectacles up the road.
