The Egerton Arms is an attractive Robinson’s pub and restaurant found adjacent to a large church in the village of Astbury, which is a 30 minute walk south from Congleton Town. There’s a large car park to the left of the pub and at the rear is a grass covered area that houses some picnic tables and a children’s swing. The pub building is in two parts with a rendered white painted section nearest the car park and a brick section further to the right. The pub is accessed from the rear where an A-board by the entrance advertises six en suite rooms.
My visit was early on a recent midweek afternoon when the restaurant area to the right was busy with diners finishing off their lunches. I was greeted by a friendly young member of staff who directed me to the bar area around to the left in the brick section of the pub. This area is L-shaped with a small L-shaped bar counter that faces some high tables. The three hand pumps were drawing Robinsons Cascade IPA, Dizzy Blonde and Unicorn. There were also six keg fonts that were drawing Birra Moretti, Madri, Coors, Carling, Guinness and Westons Vintage Cider. Beyond the bar area is a snug with a table and also a small seating area with fireplace that I expect is prime seating at colder times. The Parish News available for £1 on the bar had me wondering if I’d wandered into Dibley. I hadn’t, but it wasn’t that big a stretch of the imagination. This is a pleasant place, but is too food led to warrant the walk out of town.

Large Robinson's pub/restaurant just off the main A34. Approaching from the car park, you enter through a door in the corner of the building. Strangely, there was a podium with a host as we arrived. Whether this post is manned throughout all opening hours, I'm not sure, but it felt rather odd for a rural pub. On advising that we just wanted a drink, we were pointed in the direction of the bar to the left. Despite being the bar, there were still a couple of small rooms off the main one with tables made out for diners. The main dining room was off to the right of the podium.
A couple of old guys arrived for a drink during our visit, whilst a live FA Cup game was showing on a TV, for which they were showing a passing interest. Being a Robinson's pub, beers were Cascade IPA, Dizzy Blonde & Unicorn.
Outside, you can have good views of the old village church. Children can be occupied by a play area in the garden.

Well-run village inn with two open rooms at front, a central bar and a restaurant behind, also offering accommodation. Popular for food and a fair selection of beers from Robinsons.

This pub is in a small village just outside Congleton.
the Egerton Arms is a Robinsons tied house and it is set in a nice location oposite the village church.
When i went in here the pub was very busy with a lot of people dining,i had a drink of Robinsons Unicorn bitter which was very nice.
The pub was quite smart inside and the customers in here seemed to be quite upmarket.
