Strongers . left this review about The Valiant

The Valiant is a single roomed pub with an L-shaped serving counter that faces banquettes under the front windows and up the right-hand wall opposite. My visit was on a recent Tuesday evening when there was some background music playing for the enjoyment of the local pissheads who had assemble in their local. Premium keg was available alongside three hand pumps, one was being used as a blue roll holder so the available cask options were Pedigree and Directors. There’s a dartboard to the left of the entrance and out the back is a beer garden that is surprisingly large considering the small size of the pub. It was a bit of a contrast walking into here after spending some time in the subdued Den Engel next door, this isn’t a journey I will be repeating.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Valiant

A proper locals boozer unusually located right in the middle of town. Only one small bar, with just enough room for a dartboard on one side of the counter, and a slightly bigger seating area to the other. Wasn't necessarily expecting any real ale, but one of the three handpumps was in use, offering a fair pint of Courage Directors (especially at just £2.90).

Blimey! This seems to be a place for the less, er, sane. The fruit machine was by far the most intellectual, well spoken and interesting thing in here. Sad sad pensioner-like dickheads, who should grow up, talking utter sh*te and all acting as if they were 14. And this was an afternoon. I've been in a lot of pubs were the Idiot Quotient is high and this is up there with the best. I'm hoping this was just a bad visit but I doubt it. If you must come in here then there are 3 handpumps on the bar with only 2 Marston beers on.

This is very much a locals pub. Our visit was on a Saturday afternoon and the music was blaring. I don't think you'd get a polite response here if you asked them to turn the music down. Marstons Ped and Marstons Bitter. The pub was also scruffy.

The Valiant is on a quietish street in the town centre.
Once inside this pub it was a fairly decent place to have a drink in and it was a Marstons house, there were a couple of their real ales on the bar i had a drink of Pedigree which was a decent drink.
This was more of a locals pub.
