Strongers . left this review about Cattle Market
Cattle Market has a central bar that serves the public bar to the right where a pool table takes centre stage and an L-shaped lounge to the left where ten or so locals had assembled on a recent Tuesday afternoon. The lounge seemed more inviting, so I stayed in there even though Tipping Point was being blasted out of the televisions either end of the bar, nobody was watching it. The L-shaped counter supports standard keg and three hand pumps, two of which were in use drawing Hobgoblin and Wainwright Gold. I sat on the banquette that runs under the left-hand windows and noted a tiled fireplace on the front wall and a dartboard on the stage at the rear. The service was friendly and the locals seemed harmless enough, but there are better pubs the other end of the high street.

A reasonable Marston's pub. A two roomed affair with the room to the right housing a pool table. The lounge to the left is small and pleasant enough. 5 handpumps on the bar but sadly a rather pedestrian Marston's selection today with Pedigree, Saddle Tank, Hobgob and 61 Deep on.

The Cattle Market is now in new hands and has been since September 2013, although it is still a Marstons pub. There are now 5 real ales, 3 ciders, 3 lagers and Guiness on draught. The cellar has been completely refurbished and the interior has had a thorough cleaning and some redecorating. The "younger crowd" and "rough" element has now been discouraged and it is a great friendly locals local. There is entertainment every Friday night to suit and ever one recieves a warm welcome. most tastes

Still in the hands of Marstons, so hence on the bar Hobgoblin, Sneck Lifter and Marstons Bitter. It consisted of an L shaped bar with Sky Sports. There were only a couple of people in having a drink on our Sat afternoon visit. The barmaid told us it gets very busy of an evening with the younger crowd.

The Cattle Market is on the edge of the town centre and it is a Marstons tied house.
Once inside here the pub was fairly basic and seemed to be quite a rough pub to have a drink in.
There were a couple of real ales on the bar i had a drink of Pedigree which was decent enough the other beer was Marstons bitter.
I did'nt like this pub that much.
