Strongers . left this review about Black Swan

The Black Swan, or Mucky Duck as it is affectionately known by the locals, is a large split-level pub with banquettes in small living room like areas either side of the entrance and a bar counter that runs front to rear while facing seating up the right side of the pub. The service was friendly and I enjoyed the music from yesteryear, which is by far my favourite year. Standard and premium keg were available, but only two of the four hand pumps were in use drawing London Pride and Brain’s Rev James. I thought it comfortable in here, but it’s not somewhere I would go out of my way to revisit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Black Swan

Obviously an old building, but the exterior has recently been repainted to give a more modern appearance. The main bar, lounges on either side of the entrance and elevated seating areas opposite the counter and in the rear extension have all been refurbished in a semi-traditional style. Also has a patio beer garden at the back. With two of the four handpumps in use, I found Bombardier and Pedigree (surprisingly just £2.30).

A fairly standard pub. 3 areas to sit in with the main larger room as you enter. To either side are 2 small areas. To the rear is a beer garden. Not the greatest selection of beers from the 3 handpumps on the bar with rather dull Marston's staples on.

This is a traditional pub which obviously dates back many years, its genuine beams held together in places with robust-looking bolts. There are several hand pumps scattered about the substantial bar, with three beers on: Marstons Burton Bitter (on three pumps) selling at £2.30 a pint, plus two from Wychwood, Hobgoblin and Rascal. I had the Burton, which was in good condition but fairly bland. This was a pleasant pub and I got a friendly welcome form the landlord, so it would be one to include on any Leek crawl.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Black Swan

A decent size traditional Marstons pub, just off the square. Three Marstons ales on offer, I went for the Jennings Cumberland which was good and reasonably priced. The TV was on the opposite wall from the bar, so it was handy to catch up on the darts from Lakeside.

The Black Swan is on a pedestrianised street in the middle of Leek.
This pub is a Marstons tied house and once inside the pub has been opened out but still has different drinking areas,it was a fairly smart and comfortable pub to have a drink in.
There were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Pedigree which was a decent drink the other beers were Marstons bitter and Jennings Cumberland.
I thought this was a fairly decent pub.
