Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Five Ways
As the name suggests, this community pub is set on a multi-arm junction, and directly opposite the impressive Heath Hayes war memorial gates. Opened out to form an irregular staple-shaped interior with the bar on one side. Not a huge amount of space inside, so the rear courtyard garden is a bonus. Just one of the pair of handpumps was in use, but this produced a very respectable pint of JW Lees Bitter (£3.70).

UPDATE: Not a lot has changed here, two irregular rooms with the lounge unused and still friendly enough with two Sharp's beers on - Sea Fury and Atlantic at my visit. The Atlantic was fine enough.

Feb 2010: So named as it sits on the edge of the 5-Ways island - a detached brick pub with rear patio.
The interior has a strange shaped bar, the goes around the serving bar in the middle, and a lounge that was closed off when i visited. The bar had pool, darts and Sky TV and the decor was white and wood panel. There was an eclectic mix of photos on the wall, with a nice few old electronic pubs on a shelf behind the bar which included; Banks's MILD and Highgate MILD - sadly, i didnt note them all. The service was friendly as were the clientele, that were more my age (40s+).
Beer; all tap stuff, with a decent Highgate MILD and one solo real ale handpump - an untried Pedigree.
I liked it here, i felt comfy and at least could have a choice of MILD or a real ale. Slightly out of the way for me, but i would go back.

Having driven past this pub more times than I care to remember I have been meaning to give it try since I heard a rumour that the great Steve Bull used to drink in here!
I've always thought it looked a bit small and 'locally' from the outside so its taken time to get here. But finally found the time. Its seems bigger inside than you'd think, though its by no means huge, and its welcoming and seems friendly, though it was busy on my visit, being a warm sunny Friday early evening between the first 2 matches of 2010 World Cup. Ok, it is a traditional local, but I felt welcome and relaxed, especially after a pint of very nice Pedigree, not usually one of my favourite beers. Tables outside on a patio & the car park can be reached from either of the adjoining roads.
Nice place.
