Strongers . left this review about Royal Oak
The Royal Oak was smaller inside than the outside suggests with just a small bar area to the left with a short counter across the rear that faces a table in the front window and a long tatty green banquette in the shape of a horseshoe in a carpeted area to the right. Muted cricket via Sky Sports was being shown while some random background music played. The barman was friendly but only one of the three hand pumps was in use drawing Pedigree, the other customers preferring the standard keg and Cruzcampo. I think this place has seen better days, but there were about ten locals in during my recent Wednesday afternoon visit so they must be doing something right. Although I still think a lick of paint, some reupholstering, hanging the curtains properly and a bit of Fabreze wouldn’t go amiss.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Royal Oak
In a fellow customer's own words, an "old man's" boozer located just beyond the A38 and Trent & Mersey Canal (although, to be fair, not many of the locals were actually old men). Housed in a substantial building (not all of which appears to be in use, but part looks like it might be a first-floor meeting hall). Basic bar at the front with a semi-screened seating area to one side, with a separate and more comfortable lounge further back (although this was in darkness on my visit). Pedigree and Dancing Duck's Abduction (£3.40) from two of the three handpumps.
