Will Larter left this review about Strafford Arms Hotel
This is the most substantial building in the virtually non-existent village of Stainborough; unless you count Wentworth Castle, that is. I was here on a quiet autumn weekday, but the large car park suggests they are a little busier on summer weekends with day trippers stopping for refreshment here after a visit to the main attraction in these parts.
It's quite a nice looking stone building, which has been given a fake country pub makeover inside - a kitchen range occupies a fireplace in the front room in wild inauthenticity. Pictures of hunting and cricket adorn the walls and a bank of four hand pumps adorns the bar: a pity that Tetleys Bitter was the only real ale available at the time of my visit. This is a pleasant enough pub, but for the real ale drinker no particular reason to make the effort to get here.
