The Lock Vaults is a modernised pub that reopened last year after five years of closure, which is very good to see because it looked a bit of a state a few years ago. Through the entrance is a laminate seating area in the front left with a television for showing Sky Sports football, in fact there are televisions throughout. These were muted in favour of some background music during a recent Monday early evening visit when I was the only customer. The main bar area is up the right where a tile surrounded counter runs up the left. There’s standard seating in the front right windows and high tables stretch up the right-hand wall. There’s a small rear bar area with a counter that faces backwards towards some long high tables and a couple of shell booths that sit against the exposed brick rear wall on which some breweriana hangs. I spotted three hand pumps, one was in use drawing TT Landlord, but I stuck with a premium lager, I think. The service was polite and a Pieminister menu is in operation, can’t really go wrong with their food. This isn’t a destination pub, but I’d pop back in if passing.
