The Crown Hotel has an L-shaped bar counter that supports standard and premium keg, and the lone hand pumps on either side were both drawing Bank’s Amber, which was on good form. There’s a lounge bar with banquettes to the left where a stage sits on the rear wall and a public bar to the right, where there is a pool table and televisions for large sporting events. Live music is regularly held here, but my visit was late on a recent Wednesday so I had to make do with background music from the jukebox, and an Oasis concert that was muted on the televisions. To the front of the bar is a dartboard, but there was a massive table on the oche so it was unplayable. Someone had taken the time to draw a spunking cock on the chalkboard, so I’m guessing it doesn’t get used very often. The service was polite and it was decent pint, so above average for Scunthorpe – read into the what you will.
