A large Victorian town pub next to a busy through-road, though it mainly concentrates on looking after its regulars due to problematic parking for passers-by, partly caused by the Eastern European car wash activity nearby. There is a public bar at the front, with a parquet floor, 1960s open fire and various knocked-about seats. There is also a dartboard and a gaming machine. At the back is a dining room, while between the two is a games room with another dartboard, pool table and more gaming machines. Other rooms include a skittle alley and a function room. Various sports trophies are on display. The staff and regulars were welcoming enough, though the pub was otherwise a bit unhomely. Food looked rather bleak, so we didn't try it, although we were told that their Sunday roasts are good value. They host live music acts and bingo evenings, presumably not at the same time. Only one ale on, Doombar, which was just about drinkable. I don't see this being a regular halt for visitors, but it's fine as a local.

A decent 'no-frills' boozer just outside the town centre. Friendly landlord, good service, well-kept beers and the most welcoming regulars I've ever met. Above average (especially for Yeovil) and worth seeking out.
