Old, traditional pub, complete with blue plaque on the outside - placed by the Yeovil Historical society.

Inside - narrow, low ceilings, long bar, single Speckled Hen.

Rugby on TV screens.

This grand Georgian town house now hosts a rather dull pub which is well described by BF, below.  The beer list has not changed since that review, and it was disappointing that in a Somerset pub the only cider on offer was Thatcher’s Haze.  The sound this time was from Radio 2, still too loud and annoying, though there was a jukebox as an alternative.  Children are only allowed in the bar until 7pm, so it’s not all bad.  There is no garden, just benches and chairs on the paved area at the back and the public area at the front, both areas strewn with litter.  The staff were not engaging, and the beer is poorly kept.  Those who tolerate it to become regulars – Pall bearers? – are not particularly welcoming.  Not worth seeking out at present.

An L shaped bar in a Georgian building, but with an uninteresting interior despite the low ceilings .It is the haunt of all day drinking regulars who noted a stranger in their midst,so this wasn't an easy place in which to relax. There is a real fireplace to the right of the front door, while you would need to move a table to use the dart board here.At the end of the other leg to the carpeted bar room is a pool table .
No sign of food, and a glass pie shelf on the bar was unused .Muzak from a local commercial radio station was fine until the adverts started.
It appears to be a GK tied house with three handpumps drawing GK Abbott,Old Speckled Hen and Belhaven Bridge to Nowhere (clear but a dull brew).
This pub could be so much better, but in it's current state I can see no reason for a revisit.

Revisited yesterday on an afternoon crawl - my first return since the new management. Beers on were Directors (not kept too well and quite disappointing) and Courage Best (which was much better). Atmosphere still spoilt by noisy, self-opinionated regulars. Better than average.
