A very pleasant and welcoming traditional village inn, just off the main road. There is a car park opposite the pub. Entry to the pub is through a small courtyard which also has a few bench seats. There is a separate, well-kept lawned garden at the back. Inside, there is a main bar with a much-appreciated woodburner in a stone chimney breast. There is a small bar the other sie of the counter, and there are two more small rooms with tables. In addition, there is an extension at the back which is used as a restaurant, and we were led to believe there is also a skittle alley, though we didn't see this. The staff were chatty and friendly, while the pub dog - a slobbery French mastiff - was equally chummy. There was a TV screen in the bar, but this was switched off when we visited. It's a Palmer's pub, so the ale choices were 200, IPA and Dorset Gold, and First Press Cider was on draft. The limited keg range was Guinness, Carlsberg and Amstel. We didn't eat, but the food looked like good value, home cooked and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.
