The Bridge Inn sits adjacent to the passing canal that is accessed via a door at the rear that leads to a slender bit of outdoor space with views onto moored canal boats and the Tarvin Bridge upstream that the pub is named after. The front entrance open onto a laminate floored lobby, I believe this fairly open plan pub has at some point been knocked through from smaller rooms. To the left of the entrance is a front room with seating and a piano and in the left rear is a raised seating area. A staircase to the left climbs to the advertised pool room that I didn’t visit on this occasion. To the right of the entrance is a multi-coloured sofa and then some raised seating runs along the front windows. An L-shaped serving counter lined with stools, and locals, is found in the right rear corner to the left of the aforementioned rear door. Standard and premium keg were available from the friendly landlady who was holding court with her regulars. The lone hand pump stood unused, but lots of old clips cover the ceiling above the bar. Maybe I was unlucky, or maybe the clips are from another time. This was a nice comfortable spot for a pint on a Monday afternoon while listening to some 60s background music, I’d pop back in if passing.

When open it's an ok pub to drink in. Right on the outskirts of Chester its probably just about worth the effort to get there.

The Bridge sits on the canal just outside the town centre, has been recently refurbished and has a sign facing the canal stating 'Home of Real Ale'.
This was enough to tempt me to put my head through the door but sadly I couldn't stay for a drink due to a total lack of funds but thought it worth scratching a note or two here as it has clearly so recently changed.
The building itself is large and Victorian, I'd guess. Inside, the bar is at the back - canal side - and the whole has been done out with wooden floors and tall tables and stools as well as some more conventional seating to the sides.
Outside there is a newly decked which looks onto the canal.
I spotted 5 handpumps which offered TT Landlord and Tribute along with a couple of beers whose clips I didn't recognise - they weren't nationals or large regionals but without any cash I didn't get a closer look.
The place had a few people in on Sunday afternoon and if I'm ever passing again and actually have some money then I'll happily stop in for a beer.
