E TA left this review about The Lion Inn
A 17th Century village local, sitting on a corner on the main route through and irregular in shape. It doesn’t have its own car park and parking is problematic. You enter the pub through a foyer on the corner, which has a couple of slot machines for children, then you’re in the main bar. This has a stone floor, large oak beams and a huge fireplace with a woodburner. Much of this appears to have been renovated recently, including the rural décor consisting mainly of stuffed animals, horse brasses and cliched bric-a-brac. There is a large TV screen which was switched off when we visited. There is also a jukebox here, but that too was (mercifully) switched off. From this bar you step down into a second room which is mainly for dining but has a second dartboard. On the bar were 4 handpumps, two with reversed clips and two dispensing ciders, Devon Mist and English Autumn. The landlord didn’t seem too fussed about the lack of ale, and the locals propping up the bar were drinking keg anyway. The keg choices were Proper Job, Guinness, Thatcher’s Gold and Carlsberg, plus there was a small coffee machine which was also in action. It’s not on a major route, so unless you happen to be in the area anyway I wouldn’t make an especial effort
