A large 1960s-style estate-type pub which caters for locals as well as holiday makers. It sits in the middle of a large plot with two main routes into town on two sides. There are car parks and outside seating areas on both sides, which include a children's play area and a large covered smoking shed. It looked shabby from the town side, uninviting and appearing closed, while the main entrance on the sea-facing side is more appealing. Inside, the single large space has a raised platform at one side from which live acts perform, while anther raised area the other side is used as a dining area. There is a separate games room with a pool table at the rear, and TV screens are visible from every aspect; these were showing live horse racing when we visited. The interior is quite gloomy, an impression unaffected by the presence of a disco laser ball, which just looks silly. The staff were friendly enough, cheerful even, while the other customers were decent enough people enjoying their afternoon - a couple of families, a solitary local drinker and a couple of bikers having a pit-stop. Only one ale on, Doombar, which was in average condition. There were, in addition 2 dry handpumps, plus a keg selection of Cruzcampo, Carling, Moretti, Guinness, San Miguel and 3 from Thatcher's. It's what you'd expect from an estate pub near a caravan park.

Family friendly local right opposite the large Haven caravan site. They obviously do well with holiday makers looking for a proper pub instead of the over priced hell hole on the site!
Decent beer garden with play area for the kids.
3 beers on when I called - Atlantic Pale ale, Hobgoblin gold and Doom bar. I had the pale ale at £4.30 which was fine - and cheaper than the afore mentioned hell hole!

This pub has reopened (but I have not yet been in it to do a survey)
