A back street terraced pub used mainly by locals. There is a square bar at the front, which has two distinct sides. On the left as you enter is a public bar-type area, with a pool table and dartboard, while the other side has tables and bank seats as well as an open fireplace, so is more of a saloon area. There is another bar at the back, more of a comfy seating area, and there’s a skittle alley which doubles as a function room. There is a large garden, which seemed to be used mainly by children. No real ale on this visit, though there was a handpump with an old reversed Doombar clip, and a second unclipped pump on the bar. The locals were OK, a fairly decent bunch, but the landlord wasn’t particularly welcoming. I don’t think I’ll be rushing back here.
