A rather scruffy roadside pub which serves mainly as a local. There’s a covered smoking terrace at the front, but nothing else by way of garden, and parking is problematic. Inside is a single H-shaped bar formed from conjoining three original rooms. It’s been done badly, leaving a two-level floor which presents a trip hazard in an inconvenient place. The décor is battered and the pub doesn’t feel particularly welcoming. There is a pool table, two dartboards and several small tv screens showing live sports – horse racing on this visit. Only one ale on, Bay’s Topsail, which was in poor condition. I don’t see my returning as things stand.
